Patient Admission Information

Please ensure your pet is reasonably clean and dry on the day of surgery to reduce the risk of infection. Remembering that your pet may not be washed for up to 3 weeks after their operation So, if you want to wash them before surgery just make sure they have at least 24 hours to dry.

Any patient requiring sedation or general anaesthesia will be required to be fasted. Please do NOT feed your dog or cat any food after 9:00 pm the evening before surgery. You can leave water available up until they come into hospital.

If your animal is less than 4 kilograms, diabetic or is on long term medications then you should consult a veterinarian to obtain specific instructions regarding fasting and/or medication administration. 
Exotic patients, such as rabbits and guinea pigs should NOT be fasted.

Admission times
Please bring your pet into the hospital between 8:30 am and 9:30 am on the morning of the procedure. Please bring in any medications your pet is currently taking, as well as any pet insurance claim forms if applicable.

You will need to allow 10 to 15 minutes for patient check-in.
This is to enable your veterinary nurse to obtain contact details for the day, discuss and design a care package, answer any questions you may have and to sign a consent form.

If you are in a rush, you may wish to obtain a copy of the consent form prior to the day of hospitalisation and complete it before you arrive. Alternatively, you may elect to check your pet in earlier than 8:00 am or the evening before the scheduled day of surgery ( this is by prior arrangement only).

Unless you hear from us sooner please call the hospital between 3:00 pm and 4:00 pm the afternoon of the procedure to confirm when your pet will be able to go home. Discharge times vary with the procedure performed, variable recovery times in different patients and order in which our procedures are performed on the day.
